Building Code Ordinance

The 2004 Cambridge Township Building Code adopted the regulations of the Uniform Construction Code (UCC), which subsequently requires building permits for most construction projects in the Township.

Further information on the Uniform Construction can be found on the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry website found here.

This information is provided as a tool only and you should contact the Township for final determinations or to verify all the information.

Residential Construction

New construction of detached structures over 1,000 sq. ft., single-family dwellings, including manufactured and industrialized homes, decks, swimming pools and hot tubs, signs, demolition work and any size attached construction to existing buildings requires a building permit and inspections.

Building plans for residential construction do not need to be prepared by a design professional and may be sketched by the applicant in a legible form.

Once you have FULLY completed the Building Permit Application, please return ALL required information to the Municipal Building.  Once received, the Township’s Building Code Official will review the Application and applicable plans to determine compliance with the provisions of the Uniform Construction Code.

Please note that Applications MUST be accompanied by three (3) sets of complete construction documents that show in detail code compliance for all work proposed.  Fees associated with the Building Permit are dependent on the proposed construction and required inspections.

Building Permits shall become null and void one year from date of issue.

For additional information, code compliance questions, or to schedule an inspection, please contact the Township’s Building Code Official, Patrick Duffy at the Middle Department Inspection Agency (MDIA) at (800) 828-6342.
